May Songwriting Challenge- Day 4: Bad Boy, an Exercise in Repetition
After yesterday’s song came together so quickly, I was almost in a “quit while you’re ahead” mood this morning. I knew that I needed to write so I decided to give myself a little exercise; to be repetitive. Repetitiveness is one of my pet peeves. I’m not saying it can’t or shouldn’t be done, I’m just not always a fan of it. Tackling this exercise has left me hoping that it will break down my own personal barriers which may hinder song development.

V1:
A bad boy makes the good girls giggle
A bad boy makes the good girls blush
A bad boy rides in on trouble
And the good girls can’t get enough
A bad boy can make a promise
A bad boy can buy a ring
A bad boy can swear he’ll settle
Yeah a bad boy can do anything
CH:
A bad boy can make you mad as hell
A bad boy ‘s easy to leave
Am I a bad girl for wishing
You’d be a bad boy to me
V2:
A bad boy can make you jealous
A bad boy stays out all night
A bad boy will flirt with strangers
Even when you’re by his side
A bad boy can make you wonder
A bad boy leaves you unsure
A bad boy has you convinced
He wants you to be like her
CH:
A bad boy can make you mad as hell
A bad boy ‘s easy to leave
Am I a bad girl for wishing
You’d be a bad boy to me
B:
You’re no bad boy, that’s for certain
You’re no bad boy, and it hurts
‘Cause it can be so hard to say the
good-bye no good boy deserves
CH:
A bad boy can make you mad as hell
A bad boy ‘s easy to leave
Am I a bad girl for wishing
You’d be a bad boy to me
