May Songwriting Challenge- Day 22: Country Enough
Okay, I’m on the struggle bus folks. Boy will I have some
reflecting to post about on June 1st! This challenge has been fun,
humbling, and frustrating as ever! I’m now eight days behind so, once more, I’m
trying to play catch up. I decided to try something a little different today
though, seeking refuge in the local Starbucks for a change of scenery. When I
was in grad school it was always easier to work on assignments at Starbucks so
hopefully writing will come easier here too!
I’ve got a love-hate relationship with the next one. I like
my hook alright, but it’s not quite where I want it to be, so this one will
definitely get a re-write eventually.

V1:
This might be your first rodeo
Your first pair of boots
There may not be an ounce of backwoods
Growing in your roots
You may not know the lyrics
To the songs in our line up
But deep down, if you feel it
That’s country enough
CH:
Singing “Hell Yeah” with a miller lite
Dancin’ until you find
That empty spot inside your soul
Use the pedal steel and fiddle to fill the hole
So let it loose, join right in
With all our closest friends
If you’re ready to party with us
That’s country enough
V2:
Even if this show tonight
Is that new pearl snap’s last time
Out of your black-tie closet
If the only reason that you bought it
Was to fit in, try something new
Impress a woman you love
Or to hang out with a different crew
Man, that’s still country enough
CH:
Singing “Hell Yeah” with a miller lite
Dancin’ until you find
That empty spot inside your soul
Use the pedal steel and fiddle to fill the hole
So let it loose, join right in
With all our closest friends
If you’re ready to party with us
That’s country enough
BR:
No you don’t need to own a tractor
Don’t need to drive a truck
If a good time’s what you’re after
That’s country enough
CH:
Singing “Hell Yeah” with a miller lite
Dancin’ until you find
That empty spot inside your soul
Use the pedal steel and fiddle to fill the hole
So let it loose, join right in
With all our closest friends
Who came here to party with us
That’s country enough
