May Songwriting Challenge- Day 23: Grey Thumb
Inspired by my patio garden and all of the plants I’ve
killed, I wrote this little ditty called “Grey Thumb”. When I say I’ve killed
plants…folks, I’ve killed cacti. I’ve killed bamboo. I killed my sweet little
pineapple plant…and the 4 subsequent shoots that came off of my pineapple
plant. I’ve got several potted plants on my patio at the moment, so hopefully
my $100 investment in the garden will possibly reap $10 worth of vegetables and
herbs.

V1:
Some say that I don’t care
But that’s far from true
No matter how much I prepare
Things always start to droop
PCH:
Try to pour it on, that does the trick
‘Til I go too strong, the next minute
CH:
Whatever blossomed falls away
The passion wilts, the color fades
Honestly, I’m on the verge of giving up
The conditions could be just write
Then out of the blue, it up and dies
I’m cursed when it comes to love
I have a grey thumb
V2:
I know the best things take time
And quite a bit of space
But it’s hard to keep it all alive
After the honeymoon phase
PCH:
I go from smelling those big red roses
To another one of momma’s “I told you” moments
CH:
Whatever blossomed falls away
The passion wilts, the color fades
Honestly, I’m on the verge of giving up
The conditions could be just write
Then out of the blue, it up and dies
I’m cursed when it comes to love
I have a grey thumb
BR:
Maybe someday, something will bloom
But I won’t be countin’ wedding bells anytime soon
CH:
Whatever blossomed falls away
The passion wilts, the color fades
Honestly, I’m on the verge of giving up
The conditions could be just write
Then out of the blue, it all dies
I’m cursed when it comes to love
I have a grey thumb
Yeah conditions could be just right
Then out of the blue, it all dies
I’m cursed when it comes to love
I have a grey thumb
Oh I’m cursed when it comes to love
I have a grey thumb
