May Songwriting Challenge- Day 19: I’ll Bring the Boat
This one is based off an idea that I’ve had since the beginning of the month. I was driving to work and I passed a gentleman, checking his mailbox, with his boat loaded up and it looked like he was heading out to find a good time. In that split second I thought how awesome it would be to just buy a boat and take a day to recharge. I wrote “Redneck Regatta” down in my notebook, and have started working on it a few time, but never committed. Since I’ve been in a rut these past few days, I decided to glance at my list and just roll with one of the ideas that I’d jotted down.
I’ll Bring the Boat

V1:
Took a long way, back road route
To work, avoiding town
Windows down, fresh air, to start the day
When I noticed a trailer parked
In front of a dairy farm
That “for sale” sign called my name
PCH:
So baby, what do you say? Why don’t you call in sick?
We’ll escape like crazy kids
CH:
Pack a cooler, and the SPF
We’ll be land locked pirates
Find a river, find a lake, kick back and float
You bring the good times, I’ll bring the boat
V2:
Wrote that check out lightnin’ fast
Old farmer took it and laughed
“Easy on the throttle, enjoy the ride
Just like that I had bought a
Vessel built for a redneck regatta
Let’s make this pontoon our home away from life
CH:
Pack a cooler, and the SPF
We’ll be land locked pirates
Find a river, find a lake, kick back and float
You bring the good times, I’ll bring the boat
BR:
Come on girl, lets just go
We’ll rock with the ripples and the radio
CH:
Pack a cooler, and the SPF
We’ll be land locked pirates
Find a river, find a lake, kick back and float
You bring the good times, I’ll bring the boat
