May Songwriting Challenge- Day 20: Weekend Showin’

Today will be a day of catch-up posting! I’ve been writing, I swear, just haven’t taken the time to post. We don’t have Wi-Fi, so each post consists of typing, air-dropping to my phone, copying, pasting, formatting to the blog. Good golly I can’t wait to have internet again!

I’m not sure what order these will post in, so I’m posting my favorite first in hopes that it will be at the top of the blog for the day! If not, I guess I’ll just have to write another favorite at the end of the day! This one comes from a conversation I had at work on Thursday, before I took my first vacation day at the new job! I was giddy about having the time off and said to a member “Sorry, my weekend is showing” and thought, that’d be a fun one to write. It’s nothing super exciting, but of the few that I have to post, I enjoyed writing this one the most.

V1:
Countin’ down the minutes, tick-tock-tick-tock
‘Til I break free, close up shop
Try to tone it down, but it’s hard not to notice
Lord have mercy, feel my weekend showin’

V2:
Boss man pacin’, wants to keep us late
Sometimes that’d work, but not today
Dodgin’ his glances, like they’re red hot bullets
Lord have mercy, feel my weekend showin

CH:
I’ve got three days of nothing but time
Boat on the lake, bass on the line
Ice cold beer, gonna keep it flowin’
Lord have mercy, feel my weekend showin’

V3:
Speed trap set, on the two lane outta town
Gotta keep it in check, ‘til he’s far out
Of rearview sight, don’t need those sirens blowin’
Lord have mercy, feel my weekend showin’

CH:
I’ve got three days of nothing but time
Boat on the lake, bass on the line
Ice cold beer, gonna keep it flowin’

I’ve got three days of nothing but time

Ice cold beer, gonna keep it flowin’
