May Songwriting Challenge- Day 26: It Takes a Woman

Catching up, catching up! This was an idea that I jotted down towards the beginning of the challenge, but never really felt inspired to write on…well, deadlines can be very inspiring! Again, not one of my favorites, and it isn’t one of my typical writes, but it’s done!

It Takes a Woman

V1:
Sometimes it takes a long hot summer
To make an ole farm boy feel real tough
Logging hours and hours
Come rain, wind, gravel or mud

V2:
Sometimes it takes an ice-cold beer
To sand down the edge
So he can unwind, let go
Of all of the daily grind stress

CH:
But it takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
To soften the calluses on his heart of stone
It takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
It takes a woman, to bring a man home

V3:
Sometimes it takes a long-sought promotion
A house on the hill, with a fancy car
To make him feel he’s got his life going
Yeah, just the way that he wants

CH:
But it takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
To soften the calluses on his heart of stone
It takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
It takes a woman, to bring a man home

BR:
Sometimes a guy will cross oceans
To serve his purpose in life
boots on the ground, he’s steps out knowin
He’s helping us sleep safely tonight

CH:
But it takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
To soften the calluses on his heart of stone
It takes a woman, yeah it takes a woman
It takes a woman, to bring a man home
