Ain't Sorry
This is another write from FAWM. I was sitting around listening to some Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash when I decided to pick up a pencil. I mean, I love modern country, but I still have a soft spot for classics. So I decided to try to write a modern lyric with a classic feel. After posting it on FAWM, Eric contacted me saying that he would try to record some music for it. When I opened the link, it was exactly what I had in mind. THIS is why I write!
So have listen. And if you have a moment to spare, check out Eric's Blog too!

I heard through the grapevine
You'd been wanderin' around
'Cause you can't keep a secret
In a tiny town
So I started tellin'
A story of my own
Now you're mad because someone
Told you I was gone
Well I ain't sorry
Did what I had to do
Packed up what I needed
And that didn't leave much room
In my rusty pick up truck
For you to tag along
Sure just up an leavin'
Might have been wrong
I don't disagree
But I ain't sorry
But don't worry darlin
Right before I left
I took some things to your place
So you wouldn't forget
I tore up all the pictures
They're blowin' in the breeze
And I painted "Cheater" on your door
For all the world to see
And I ain't sorry
Did what I had to do
Packed up what I needed
And that didn't leave much room
In my rusty pick up truck
For you to tag along
Sure just up an leavin'
Might have been wrong
I don't disagree
But I ain't sorry
Now I've put our past
On the radio waves
Now everybody and their momma knows
The line you walk aint straight
And I ain't sorry
Did what I had to do
Packed up what I needed
And that didn't leave much room
In my rusty pick up truck
For you to tag along
Yeah it was spiteful
To put it in a song
I don't disagree
But I ain't sorry
So have listen. And if you have a moment to spare, check out Eric's Blog too!

Hi! I really enjoyed recording your song, and I'm glad it turned out the way you wanted. I would definitely try to record country again, but hopefully my singing improves some before my next attempt :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just finished reading one of Willie Nelsons shorter books and it was very entertaining. Sentimental and funny and a bit rude all at once :P
Was it a western? I read a western by Willie Nelson over the summer and it was good but for some reason I can't remember the title. I can picture the cover and I can remember the plot but the title is escaping me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the one I read was "The Facts of Life and Other Dirty Jokes" written in 2002. Half of it is song lyrics. I think he wrote the rest while on tour in 2001.
ReplyDeleteThe one I read was "A Tale Out of Luck". It was pretty good. I'll have to find the one you mentioned. It sounds good.
