One Night In Amarillo

This is very different from what I usually write but I figured I'd still post it. A song is a song, right? lol. This is number 40 of 100!! I'm almost half way there...with...two months to go. Oh boy, I better pick it up a bit! :)

One night in Amarillo
In a little motel bar
She ordered up another
To close out happy hour
One night in Amarillo
She left her past in the rearview
And tried to drown the memories
Good and bad, in a bottle of 80 proof

One night in Amarillo
He stopped in for a beer
After a business trip
He made sale of the year
One night in Amarillo
He took that ring off his hand
Knowing damn well that
He'd never see her again

When the morning sun rises
He'll greet it alone
'Cause she is already
Fifty miles down the road
He'll gather up his things
Head back home
And they'll move on
But they'll never let go

Of one night in Amarillo
The talk wasn't so small
And they both lingered
Until last call
One night in Amarillo
She handed them the keys
And both of them hoped they'd
Be what the other'd need

But when the morning sun rises
He'll great it alone
Because she's already
Fifty miles down the road
He'll gather up his things
And head on home
They'll both move on
But they'll never let go

Of one night in Amarillo
When he didn't spot
His wife's chevy malibu
In that motel parking lot
One night in Amarillo
He thought he could change
Her mind, but she'd already
Slipped away

But when the morning sun rises
He'll great it alone
Because she's already
Fifty miles down the road
He'll gather up his things
And head on home
They'll both move on
But they'll never let go
