Testify

So I sat down tonight to record and post "Hap'ly Ever After".... However, several takes later I decided to just call it a practice session and try again tomorrow. But I've been promising a new blog post for a while, so I won't put it off any longer.
When I wrote this song, I started off writing about being hungover in church. Then out of nowhere I thought "oh, it'd be funny if she got the preacher drunk."
And just like that this song came together. I'll probably post a recording of this one later this week too, once I get some of the kinks worked out.

It was a perfect sunday, for a pitch-in after church
Yeah I sat down with my best friend, to enjoy our handiwork
Nobody had a clue when they sat down for lunch
That we snuck out in altar call, and spiked the punch

Lets raise our dixie cups, I wanna make a toast
To the good book, The Father, and The Son, and The Holy Ghost
We're gonna have a revival, oh it's just a matter of time
'Til the spirit starts to move, yeah let me hear you testify

Somebody pass one to the preacher, we're gonna loosen his lips
'Fore too long he'll be confessin', ev'rybody's sins
And we'll finally get an answer, about last year's Christmas play
When Brother John, and Mrs. Williams, snuck away

Lets raise our dixie cups, I wanna make a toast
To the good book, The Father, and The Son, and The Holy Ghost
We're gonna have a revival, oh it's just a matter of time
'Til the spirit starts to move, yeah let me hear you testify

Dirty little secrets, white lies
Nobody's safe once the pastor starts to feel the shine

So lets raise our dixie cups, I wanna make a toast
To the good book, The Father, and The Son, and The Holy Ghost
We're gonna have a revival, oh it's just a matter of time
'Til the spirit starts to move, yeah let me hear you testify

Yeah we'll have a revival, it's just a matter of time
'Til the spirit starts to move, let me hear you testify
Yeah testify
