Easy on the Sunrise
I just got this idea while I was sitting around thinking about how my friends and I used to go out for margaritas, or long island iced teas, or whatever the special for the night happened to be. This is a female country song, with kind of a tropical feel. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to put music to this one yet. I included the optional lyrics if it was for a male vocalist in parenthesis.

My second cousin was gettin' married
Down in west palm beach
That open bar was callin' my name so
I asked for somethin' with whiskey
That little latin man shook his head
Then read through my list of options
Of spritzers, mixers, margaritas
And tropical concoctions
So I said give me something tall and cold
With a bit of a kick
I wanna feel it burnin down my throat
From the second it hits my lips
If you're gonna serve me something fruity
You better mix it right
Go heavy on the tequila
Easy on the sunrise
I was just gettin' started when
The party began to wind down
So I called the cab to drop me off
At a corner bar in town
There some man named Eduardo (There some pretty senorita)
Salsa-ed me across the floor
Then he asked what I would like (I offered to buy her a drink)
The bartender to pour (Then asked the bartender to pour
I told him get me somethin' tall and cold (Somethin' tall and cold)
With a bit of a kick
I wanna feel it burnin' down my throat (Said I wanna feel it burnin' down my throat)
From the moment it hits my lips
If he's gonna make me somethin' fruity (If you're gonna make us something fruity)
He better mix it right (You'd better mix it right)
Tell him heavy on the tequila (Heavy on the tequila)
Easy on the sunrise
After a few more rounds
Things began to blur
I must've had one hell of a time
'Cause all that I could remember
Was drinkin' somethin' tall and cold
With a bit of a kick
I felt it burnin' down my throat
From the second it hit my lips
I usually don't like my drinks fruity
But they knew how to mix 'em right
Heavy on the tequila
Easy on the sunrise
Heavy on the tequila
Easy on the sunrise
